Consent Policy
Last updated: 30 August 2025
Introduction
We believe every individual has the right to be involved in decisions about their care and support. This Consent Policy explains how British Elderly Care seeks, records, and respects consent in line with UK law.
Obtaining Consent
Before providing care or collecting personal information, we will explain clearly what is being asked and why. Consent will always be sought in plain, accessible language to ensure individuals can make an informed choice.
Types of Consent
- Explicit consent: Clearly expressed, either in writing or verbally, and recorded in our care notes or systems.
- Implied consent: Understood through actions, such as continuing with care after explanation, where appropriate.
Right to Withdraw
Consent can be withdrawn at any time. We will respect this decision and adapt care arrangements promptly, ensuring dignity and safety remain at the centre of our service.
Capacity & Best Interests
If an individual lacks capacity to give consent, decisions will be made in line with the Mental Capacity Act 2005. This means acting in the person’s best interests, considering their wishes, and involving family or representatives where possible.
