Birmingham is a youthful and dynamic city, buoyed by a strong student and professional population and enriched by cultural diversity. Today, around 13.1% of residents are aged 65 or older, a slight increase from 12.9% in 2011. While the senior population is currently smaller compared to other cities, it's expected to grow significantly—up by nearly 30% by 2040, climbing from approximately 150,600 in 2020 to around 194,100.
